La Unión Argentina de Rugby (UAR) confirmó el plantel argentino de Rugby Femenino que viajará a Montevideo, Uruguay, para participar del torneo Valentín Martínez 2014, el sábado 8 y domingo 9 de noviembre.
El plantel nacional, compuesto por 20 jugadoras que conformarán dos equipos, se concentrará en las instalaciones de La Plata Rugby Club desde el domingo 2 del mes próximo hasta el viernes 7, fecha en la que partirá hacia Montevideo.
Los objetivos de la concentración, según la opinión del entrenador, Nahuel García, serán los siguientes: “La idea principal de la concentración es poder trabajar con 20 jugadoras, las 12 que viajaron a Hong Kong y otras ocho que están en buen rendimiento. Nos vamos a enfocar en ciertos aspectos claves para el equipo, como seguir haciendo énfasis en una defensa con más presión y responsabilidad en el uno a uno. En ataque pretendemos mejorar la lectura de lo que pide cada jugada y saber aprovechar las oportunidades que nos dan los rivales, y para eso trabajaremos mucho los duelos y el juego en el contacto, como también la obtención”.
En la pasada edición del certamen, Argentina tuvo una exitosa participación con sus dos equipos, los cuales se enfrentaron en semifinales. Posteriormente, el vencedor fue derrotado en la final por Brasil, por 26 a 17.
“Apuntamos a mejorar los aspectos del juego que mencioné anteriormente y a poder reevaluar a las 12 jugadoras que estuvieron en Hong Kong y varias que detectamos del último Nacional de Clubes que se realizó en La Plata”, explicó García, quien agregó que “apuntamos a jugar en nuestro mejor nivel posible, haciendo énfasis en los aspectos del juego planteados. Vamos a participar con dos equipos equilibrados y ésta competencia nos servirá para desarrollarnos y crecer”.
En referencia al plantel convocado, el salteño confesó: “Son las jugadoras que consideramos que están en mejores condiciones para el nivel internacional, al menos en ésta oportunidad”.
